Getting started
Questions people ask in their first weeks with Gina
Signing up, connecting your tools, working with Gina and staying in control, answered in a few lines each.
Getting started
Can I just sign up on the website instead of waiting for the invite?
Not today. Gina is invite-only: your account is created from the signup link in your invite email, and that link is tied to one email address.
Can I change the email address on the signup form?
No. The email is filled in from the invite and can't be changed on the form. If you want a different address, ask us for a new invite to that address.
Can I forward the link to my business partner so they can sign up too?
No. Each invite works once and only for the email it was sent to. Once you're in, you can invite your partner yourself from your Account page or from Members in the Menu.
So what do I actually need on day one?
Your invite and a Claude Pro or Max plan with an active subscription. A free Claude account can sign in but can't run Gina.
Where do I paste the Claude code?
Press Authorize with Claude. A tab opens on Anthropic's site: sign in, approve, and copy the short code it shows. Back on the form, paste it under Paste the code from Anthropic and press Continue. You'll see "✓ Claude account connected".
My company is on a Claude Team or Enterprise plan. Does that work?
Yes, but an administrator on that Claude account must allow Claude Code first.
Is there an app I download for my phone?
Open app.talktogina.ai in your phone's browser. Gina's pages are built to fit a phone: you can attach photos and documents from it and dictate messages.
Does it stop working when I close my laptop?
No. Gina runs on its own private server that the team operates, so it keeps going with your laptop closed.
Do I have to do the second step?
No. Only the Claude connection from setup is required. Adding Gina to Claude or another AI tool is optional and can wait.
How do I add Gina to Claude?
In Claude, go to Customize > Connectors, click + Add, then Add custom connector. Paste https://app.talktogina.ai/api/mcp. Choose Register automatically, then Sign in now. Sign in, pick your agent, and choose Allow. Then, in a chat, open + > Connectors and switch it on.
Why would I want it?
So you can send Gina tasks, search its work and answer its approvals from Claude or ChatGPT without opening the console.
Connecting your apps and tools
Does Gina see my password when I connect?
No. Gina sends you a link to the app's own sign-in page, and you sign in there. Never type a password, key or code into the chat: Gina will never ask for one.
I have a work Gmail and a personal one. Can I connect both?
Yes. You name each connection when you add it, so two accounts of the same app are easy to tell apart, and you can rename them any time.
I already pasted a password in the chat by mistake. Now what?
Change that password in the app it belongs to.
How do I know which one I need for a given app?
If the app has its own sign-in page Gina can send you to (email, calendar, documents and many more), it's a connection. If you have to create a key or token in another service and type it in, it's a credential: for example a Slack token, a GitHub token or your own keys.
Where can I see everything Gina has access to?
Open Gina's Credentials tab (Menu, then Settings). The Connected apps card lists each app with its name and status, and shows when Gina last checked them.
How do I find out if my app can be connected?
Ask Gina, for example "Connect our Notion". If it can, it sends you the sign-in link. Check with Gina before counting on a specific tool.
Where exactly do I put it?
Open Credentials (Menu, then Settings) and add it under your own custom credentials. Add one row per value, with a name that uses underscores and no spaces, for example HOSTING_LOGIN and HOSTING_PASSWORD. Type the value into the box, never into chat.
Is it safe to let Gina change our live website?
You set the limits. Tell Gina up front: "Read-only: look and report, change nothing" or "Ask me before you change anything on the live site." It stops at that point and waits for your answer in the Inbox.
What do I say to Gina after that?
Start a thread that names the credential and says where things are, for example: "I added our hosting login as HOSTING_LOGIN. The server address is …. Log in and look at our site, and change nothing yet."
How do I tell if I've connected the same app twice?
Open Credentials from the Menu (Settings). The Connected apps card lists every app Gina can use, each with the name you gave it and its status, so two accounts of the same app show up as two rows.
How do I let Gina make changes in the app and not just read it?
The agent's owner can allow changes for each app under Credentials. Gina can read an app even when that app is set to ask before making changes.
Why does the name matter?
The name lets you tell two accounts of the same app apart (a work and a personal Gmail, say), and you can tell Gina which one to use. You can rename a connection any time.
Once it's connected, what can the other tool do?
It can read Gina's threads and files, send it tasks, answer its approvals and run its automations. It acts as you, with only the access you chose.
Do I need an API key?
Not for ChatGPT or Claude on the web or desktop: you sign in with Gina AI and press Allow. Cursor needs a key, and Claude Code works either way. The address is https://app.talktogina.ai/api/mcp.
Can I limit it to reading only?
Yes. Give its key only the read:tasks scope.
How does a teammate connect Claude Code or Cursor?
Create a key under Access with only the permissions that person needs, or add Gina as a connector and sign in. Steps for each tool are on the page.
Does the other tool see everything in Gina?
Only what the key allows, using your access.
Can I cap what that key can do?
Yes, you choose the access, including whether it may answer approvals.
Working with Gina day to day
Does adding something interrupt what Gina is doing?
No. Under the running task, press + add context, type it and press Queue. It's marked queued and is sent the moment the current task finishes.
Can I send a brand-new message while it's busy?
Yes. If Gina is busy with other work, your message waits in the thread marked Queued and sends when the running task finishes. Keep that thread open until then.
What if I change my mind before it's sent?
Remove it with the × before the task finishes.
How do I start a new thread, and how do I find an old one?
Press + New thread in the side rail, or + New above the thread list. To find an old one, use Search threads…, which searches names, categories and what was said.
If I start a new thread, does Gina forget what we talked about?
A new thread starts the conversation fresh, but Gina's memory carries across threads. Say "remember that…" for anything every thread should know.
Do I have to name every thread?
No. A thread names itself after Gina's first reply. To rename it, hover over the title and press Rename. A name you type always wins.
How do I make sure it remembers a decision?
Say "remember that…" and it keeps the decision between tasks.
What do I do when it has forgotten something?
Tell it the correct version and ask it to remember that. For a long project, ask for a short summary document at the end of each session and upload it when needed.
How do I check what it remembers?
Ask Gina what it knows about the project.
Does it send without me?
No. It sends only when you say "send it".
Can I have it do this for every email like that?
Yes. Get one example right, then ask for the same on a schedule or when that kind of email arrives.
How do I stop it?
Edit or delete the automation.
How should I word my requests?
Brief Gina the way you'd brief a capable contractor who's new to your company. Say what you want, what "done" looks like, and anything it can't guess.
Can you give me some examples that work in the first week?
A morning briefing from your calendar and inbox, a write-up and follow-up draft after each client call, a weekly one-page PDF report, or a reply drafted to an email. Each has a ready-made request you can copy on the Getting started page.
Do I have to repeat my preferences every time?
No. Say "remember that…" once, for example "Remember that invoices go out on the 1st."
Can I make it faster?
Give it the limits up front so it doesn't stop to check in, for example "test site only, go ahead". Tell it where things are so it doesn't have to search, and split big jobs into stages.
Can I get on with something else while it works?
Yes. Gina runs on its own server and keeps working while you're away. The Inbox's Updates view shows what's working now and what finished in the last day.
Does it get quicker at things it does often?
You can help it: ask it to write itself a skill for work you repeat, and tell it to remember facts so it doesn't have to look them up again.
How do I make it do a job every day?
Describe the job in a thread, then ask for it on a schedule.
How do I change a job later?
Open the automation and tell Gina what to change.
Why would Gina think it can't do something it can?
Sometimes it's still following an old instruction. Other times it really doesn't have the access: Gina can't go beyond the credentials it holds or see systems you haven't connected. When it runs into a permission limit, it tells you which action was refused.
What do I say to correct it?
Tell it what's wrong and what changed, for example "That's out of date: you can now create records in Salesforce." A specific correction gets a better second try than "that's wrong, try again."
How do I tell which it is?
Ask Gina exactly what was refused, then look at the Connected apps card to see whether that app shows Connected or Expired.
Staying in control and keeping data safe
What kinds of things will it stop and ask me about?
Going live on your hosted site, importing a batch of records, and any checkpoint you or Gina set all wait in your Inbox for your answer. In a connected app, deleting anything always asks first.
How do I tell it to check with me before it touches something?
Say it in plain words, for example "Ask me before you change anything in Salesforce." Gina stops at that point and waits for your answer in the Inbox.
Where do I see what's waiting for me?
Press the bell in the side rail, or choose Inbox from the Menu. The tab shows a count, and Needs you lists what needs your decision.
Do my staff have to log in to anything?
No. Only people you invite can use Gina, and they can't log in until they accept. Everyone else keeps working as they do now.
Does Gina work on its own, or only when someone asks?
Only when someone sends it a message, or when an automation you set up runs. It doesn't start work on its own beyond that.
Will my team see Gina's changes in our shared apps?
Yes. Gina works under the credentials you give it, so changes show under that account.
Which things always need my approval?
Changes on your test site wait for you to check them. Going live waits for Approve production. A batch of records to import waits for Approve import. And any checkpoint you or Gina set waits for your answer.
How do I tell it to stop asking about one particular job?
Say it as a clear decision with a reason, for example "Post the weekly report without asking from now on, because the last few were right. Anything to a client still needs my OK."
Can I turn off the approval for going live?
No. Every change to your live site waits for Approve production.
What does "it tests the change first" mean?
On a website Gina hosts for you, every change goes to a test site first. You check it there, and the live site changes only after someone presses Approve production.
Who on my team can put a change live?
The owner, an admin, or an operator with Can approve production deploys ticked. Everyone else sees the card with its buttons turned off.
How do I check the change?
The Inbox card links to your test site. Try it the way your customers would, including on your phone, then press Looks right, or Needs changes with a note.
Can anyone at Talk To Gina get into my Gina?
Support can open one-way access to fix your Gina if it gets stuck. It's on by default. You can opt out when you set up, but then the team can't repair it remotely.
Is my information kept apart from other businesses?
Yes. Your Gina runs on its own server, with its own identity and its own encrypted store for secrets. Nobody outside your account can see or act on your agents.
If I type "get support", what does the team see?
The conversation it came from, so you don't have to explain twice. A request from a private thread stays private: others on the agent see only that it exists and its status.
Your team, usage and help
Which role should I give them?
Viewer can only look. Operator sends tasks and helps fix problems but can't change settings or who has access. Admin runs things day to day, including access. Owner can do everything, including delete the agent.
Will they see my private threads?
No. Each thread is Private (only you), Shared with people you pick, or Public to everyone on the agent. Someone opening a link to your private thread sees "This conversation is private".
Can an operator approve something going live?
Only if Can approve production deploys is ticked for them on Members. Otherwise only the owner or an admin can.
Does everyone on my team need their own Claude plan?
No. Gina runs on one Claude subscription, the owner's, and one subscription covers every agent you run. Your teammates work through the same Gina.
What does the usage meter actually show?
It shows how much of your Claude plan (Pro, Max 5x or Max 20x) Gina has used, as a share. There are no dollar amounts. Open it from Usage in the header or the Menu.
Then whose usage do my teammates' requests use up?
Yours. All of Gina's work counts against the Claude plan it's connected to, not against a pool shared with other customers.
Do I pay for AI usage per use?
No: it runs on your Claude plan; the usage page shows the share used.
What if I run out?
The bar goes red and shows "Contact support to increase your limits".
What happens after I type "get support"?
Gina sends the conversation to the support team, so you don't have to explain it twice. The request then appears on the Support page under Tickets with its status: Pending, Sent, Acknowledged, Resolved or Couldn't send.
Can other people on our Gina read my support request?
No. A request raised in a private conversation stays private. Others who use the agent see only that a request exists and what its status is.
How will I know it's fixed?
For a request raised in the console, you get a notification and an email with the team's note when it's resolved.
